Alyssa CASEY is a dancer, choreographer, and costume designer from Hudson, WI. She graduated magna cum laude with her BA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) in May 2015. While at UWSP, Alyssa had the opportunity to study ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Pilates and dance composition from Joan Karlen, Michael Estanich, Jeannie Hill, Pamela Luedtke, Amy Beversdorf, and Patrick Strong. UWSP and the Department of Theatre and Dance graciously presented Alyssa with numerous awards including, the Chancellor's Leadership Award, the Anne Gilfry Schierl Fine Arts Award in Dance, the Kathryn Bukolt Dance Scholarship, the Elizabeth Bukolt Family Dance Award, and an Honors Internship. Her stage choreography has been showcased throughout the Midwest as a part of Afterimages (UWSP), Arts Bash 2015 (UWSP), ARTi Gras Benefit for the Arts (Wisconsin Rapids, WI), The Phipps Center for the Arts (Hudson, WI), and at The American College Dance Association’s North-Central Regional Conference (Ames, IA). Alyssa also explores dance through the form of media art. Her first dance for camera film, Let Me Go, premiered in May 2015 at UWSP. She is currently working on her second film, Dinoland U.S.A. Her Performance credits include Michael Estanich, Zoe Scofield, Joan Karlen, Jeannie Hill, Liz Houlton, Scott Wirtz-Olsen, Lauren Baker, and Joanie Mix. During the summer of 2014, Alyssa studied at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, England, and she spent the summer of 2015 in the Strictly Seattle summer program in Seattle, WA. Most recently she has performed with Liz Houlton and Artists in Chop Shop:Bodies of Work 2016 in Bellevue, WA. In her work, Alyssa ventures to find trust in herself to take risks, allowing her to present a part of herself on stage that other people are able to relate to and understand. Through hard work, resilience, humor, and trust, Alyssa plans to create work undefined by rules and boundaries, inspiring her audience to view life, and the endless amount of possibilities it presents, in the same way she strives to.
